Hello my name is Volker Wolfhouse. Im a Lt. in the Austria-Hungary army fighting in against Italy and Russia. Im 24 years old and live in Hangsburg. Im really tired and scared cause any second now I can die in this battle field all covered in our soldiers blood. Fatigue is settling in and i don't know how much longer I can hold out. I have been out here for two years and still going. I don't know if I will be able to carry myself home after this. Well we will just see what happens.

1.Our nation is involved in this war because the Serb terrorists murdered the Archduke Franz Ferdinand that was next in line for the thrown.The Black Hand was the terrorist group that murder the Archduke. This group was formed by the Prime Minister of Serbia. When we found out it was the Prime Minister. We declared war on Serbia we thought it was just going to be a small war. But since Serbia signed a alliance with Russia. Russia is in alliance with Britain, France, and Italy. We are now being attack by Italy, Serbia, and Russia.Now we ask the Germans for help since they signed an alliance with us and they are ready to gain respect from the whole continent. The Germans are being attacked by the British, French, and Russian army. We had the Serbia and Italy trying to invade our country but we held our on.
2.Our reaction to the assasination was furious. We were were angry and wanted to find the ones responsible for this. What country put it together. When we find them we will declare war on them and to wipe them of the face of the Earth. We soon found out who it was. It was Serbia. They had formed a terrorist group that performed this uncalled attack. We declared war on them and was to invade there country. Then they called for Russia's help in which we asked for help from the Germans. Then the Germans would hold of the Russians while we defeat the Serbs.

3.Our plan for winning this war is to invade Serbia and take over there capital. Some of our soldiers were sent to help Germans fight of the Russians. Are plan was working until Italy joined the allied side.They sign a secret alliance with France, Britain, and Russia. The Germans made up the Schleifen plan to defeat the Western front then go the Russian side caused they thought they would mobilize slowly. So we were fighting in three diferent fronts. We had to hold the fronts so the Italian army didn't invade our counrty. But the Italians were determined to show the whole continent that they are not a country to push around. Our country was just trying to stay together during the war. The Serbs and Italians were putting up a good enough fight that our plan was failing.

What they mean in this poster by saying "Then- Now- Forever" is that they are now forever that they fought in the war and served their country well. They also joined the history line in all the wars that have been fought in the past with all the others who have fought in the wars. You join like a giant family you can say.But you will always be remembered and wear the colors for the rest of your life. So if you choose to join the army. think of what you get in the long run.
